Narasimha Jhira Cave Temple – Bidar

It is a famous Narasimha Jhira Cave Temple popularly referred to as Jharani Narasimha Cave Temple is dedicated to the self-manifested deity of Lord Narasimha. To worship the deity of the temple, devotees have to pass through the cave which comprises a continuously flowing stream of water.

The lord Narasimha swami comes out of pillars to save Prahalad from Hiranyakashika. This temple is considered adventurous because uniquely this temple has water all the way to reach him. The lord Narasimha swami is in a cave that is filled with water at the ending of the cave we can see the statue of Lord Narasimha swami and devotes will walk in the water with 4-5 feet for darshan of Narasimha swami. Only 8 or 9 people are allowed at a time. The devotees need to walk in the water to be blessed by the lord.

After killing Hiranyakashipu Lord Narasimha came to this cave which is the home of Jalasura, to kill Jalasura. As Jalasura is the devote of shiva he requested Narasimha swami to stay in the temple and to bless the demons, as the lord accepted the request and he is visible in Divya Mangala Salagrama Roopam or Swayambu. The Jalasura is transformed as water to flow through the god’s feet in the cave for hundreds of years as it’s named as Dharani Narasimha swami temple. In this cave, there is a Shiva lingam. This temple is also called Jarani Narasimha swami temple, Narasimha Jarani temple, temple Narasimha Jharana.
