Ranganatha Swamy Temple – Thalpagiri

This Ranganatha Swamy Temple was built by the Pallavas during the 7th Century. The Simhapuri rulers also have contributed to the Ranganadha Swamy Temple. It was later developed by King Raja Mahendra Varma in the 12th century AD. Gopuram of this temple is seven floors with excellent sculptures. Gali Gopuram is 70 feet high and has seven floors in height. 10 feet of gold-plated Kalisams.

The Idol of Lord Ranganatha Swamy in the Sanctum, lying on his conch of Adisesha, is ten feet along with the goddess Sridevi sitting on his chest and Lord Brahma sitting on a lotus rising from the Lord’s navel. There is also a sitting divinity of Goddess Sridevi called Ranganayaka Devi. In this temple, idols face west towards the Penna River, unlike most temples where the deity faces east. Sri Vishnu Sahasra Namavali 1000 different names of Lord Maha Vishnu were written on the walls of Sanctorium. There is Santhana Vriksha, a tree that would give the blessing of fathering children to couples without children.
