Sri Adikesava Embermanar Swamy Temple – Narsapur

About

Sri Adikesava Embermanar Swamy Temple was built more than two centuries ago. It is of similar architecture and design as that of the renowned Sriperumbudur Temple in Tamil Nadu built by Sri Ramanappa Naidu replicating the structure of Sriperumbudur temple in Tamilnadu which is famous as Avatar Sthala of Saint Ramanujacharya.

During British time, Sri Prasannagresara Puppala Ramanappa Naidu a translator, who was working for the British East India Company attended Sri Ramayana Pravachanam/Kalakshepam by Sriman U.Ve Eunni Ramanujacharya Swamy. Once the pravachanam is done, Sri Ramanappa Naidu wanted to offer Guru Dakshina to Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy and was instructed Ramanappa Naidu to construct AdiKesava Emberumaanar Swamy Kovela in Narsapuram in parlance with Swamy Kovela in Sri Perumbudur.

Then Sri Ramanappa Naidu went to Sriperumbudur as per the instruction given by Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy. In Sriperumbudur, another Thirumeni of Swamy Emberumanar is arranged in Ekasanam(Same altar) with the original thirumeni of Emberumanar. After six months of Thiruvaradhanam for both the Thirumenis, new Thirumeni is brought to Narsapuram in the palanquin and installed in Sri Adikesava Swamy Kovela. The Aasanam (altar) of Sri Emberumanar Swamy is called Bhadravedi or Thrivedi signifying the authority of Swamy in all three types of Sruthis namely Bheda, Abheda, and Ghatak.

The temple Sri Adikesavaperumal, with his consorts Sreedevi and Bhudevi, and Sri Emberumanar to the right of the main shrine is the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ramanuja and to the left is Sree Yatirajanathavalli Thayar. This is the only temple where Goddess Lakshmi has a name attributed to a devotee of the lord. She is a Varaprasadi, who grants all wishes.
