Sri Brahmalingeswara Swamy Temple – Bhalighattam

About

This temple has been built by Lord Brahmaand and the river by side is Lord Vishnu during his incarnation as Varaha Murthy. Therefore, the river is known as Uttara Vahini.

The deposits of white clay on the river bank are the ashes of a sacrifice performed here by Bali, where the village takes its name as Baligattam. There is an ashram of saints known as Sri Chidgadanda Swamy and Lakshmi Devi as Goddess near the temple surroundings can also be seen.
