About Shri Bharat Mandir – Rishikesh
Shri Bharat Mandir is one of the oldest and the most revered temples present in Rishikesh and the main deity here is Lord Hrishikesh Narayan[Lord Vishnu]. The Vishnu idol here is made of Saligrama stone. Hindus hold saligrama quite sacred as they believe it is Lord Vishnu himself. There is a beautiful Sriyantra with nine interlocking triangles inside the temple.
History
According to the history, the main structure of the temple was built by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in 8th century. Later the current temple structure was built by Maharaja Yashwanth Singh of Nabha Kingdom in 1832 AD.
This is the ancient tree and it is the union of three trees representing Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara. Raibhya rishi did tapasya here and acquired control over senses. Lord Vishnu pleased by the hard penance of Raibhya rishi himself said “Those who worshiped me as Varah in Satyug, as Parashuram in Treta Yug, Vaman in Dwapar and Bharat in Kaliyug are certainly entitled for liberation”.
This temple history is related with Bhakth Prahlad, Pandavas and King Bharat. In the temple premises their is Mahadev temple, Bhadrakali temple and museum which has ancient records of the temple and Rishikesh.

Basant Panchami: Every year on Basant Panchami the idol of the Lord Hrishikesh Narayan is taken out in a grand procession for a holy dip in the Ganga and then carried through the city and taken back to the temple for the symbolic reinstallation. Devotees from far off hills visit here to have the Darshan of the Lord.
Akshaya Tritiya: On Akshaya Tritiya, devotees perform 108 parikramas around the temple, seeking blessings. It is believed that on this day, the Lord’s feet are uncovered, and completing the parikramas is considered equivalent to a pilgrimage to Badrinath.
