Jaina Temple – Halasi

About

The Jaina temple now standing at Halasi cannot go back to a period earlier than11th century A.D.

Halasi and Devagiri copperplates refer to grants made to Jain saints and temples. Grants of land and Mrigesavarma’s inscription states that he built a Jinalaya in honor and memory of his father Palasika. He also made grants to several Jain Sanghas.

The Gudnapur inscription states that King Ravivarma built a Jain temple for Manmatha- an interesting tradition. He believes that this is what remains of the Jain temple built during the Kadamba period.
