Udupi District
Udupi is an administrative district in the Karnataka state of India, with the district headquarters in the city of Udupi. According to the official district website, Udupi had a population of 11,77,908, with a literacy rate of 83 percent (86 percent among males and 81 percent among females). Udupi town was upgraded from a Town Municipal Council to a City Municipal Council in 1995, incorporating surrounding areas including Manipal, Malpe, and Santhekatte.
