About

Sri Markandeya Swamy Temple is situated in Chanda Satram or Satram-Choultry. The explorer focus was at first mixed up as the remains of a mosque, yet later archeological studies discovered the remainders as a major aspect of an antiquated Shiva sanctuary.

The sanctuary was modified in 1818 by Gundu Sobhanadrihwara Rao and the passage to the sanctuary begins from Gundu Street which was his previous home. A blessed goal that has enormous authentic and also religious hugeness, this sanctuary has religious legends joined to it and is frequented by explorers from everywhere throughout the nation. A legend is related to the sanctuary that Muni Mrukhanada, a devotee of Lord Shiva, appealed to God for a youngster. Ruler Shiva influenced her to pick either between a youngster and a spouse or a tyke, will’s identity alive just for a long time. Muni pick the child who was named Markandeya.

According to the myth, it is said that Muni Mrukhananda prayed to Lord Shiva for a child here and so the lord Shiva appeared and granted her the wish with an option of choosing between a child of 11 years and a husband. The Muni happily chose the kid, he was Markandeya and he was a stern believer in Shiva and when the lord of death came to him lord Shiva protected him and granted him long life.

The fact that it was thought to be a mosque is fascinating and is not so common. The whole temple complex is decorated with carvings of many kinds these might have been added to the structure later on. Because if the sculptures were there it is impossible to think of it as a mosque as in a mosque, no sculptures are allowed due to religious reasons. In the current day, the temple is a bit far from the river but in the olden days, it is believed that the river flowed further inland.
