About Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Varanasi

Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple which is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh is one of the most famous and revered Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Temple stands on the west bank of the River Ganges. The primary deity worshiped in the temple is the Vishwanath (meaning “Ruler of the World”) Jyotirlinga, which is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas in India.

Aarti’s Performed in Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple

  • Mangla Aarti: This is the first aarti performed in the morning during “Brahma muhurta” hour which means one hour and a half before the sun comes up.
  • Bhog Aarti: It is second Aarti after Mangla Aarti. Offering of food to Lord is performed. After offering, food is distributed among all the devotees present there.
  • Sapta Rishi Aarti: The seven Shastri/Pandit/Purohit each belonging to a different Gotra perform the Aarti simultaneously.
  • Shringar Bhog Aarti: This is the forth aarti and the offering of food to Lord is done.

  • Rudrabhishek

The essence of this puja is the holy chant of Sri Rudram from the Yajur Veda and giving a holy bath to Shivling with many materials including Panchamrit or fruit salad soaked in honey This is one of the most powerful forms of worships in Hinduism and is believed to bless the devotees with prosperity and peace and remove the sins of many births. Shiva is a highly benevolent God and is easily pleased.

  • Mahamrityunjaya Jap Puja (5 Days /7 Shastri)

In our Vedic scriptures and Puranas Special mention has been made to chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra to get rid of incurable diseases and avoid premature death. It is believed that the person who pleases Shiva with the Mahamrityunjaya mantra also fears death. The use of Mahamrityunjaya in the state of Saturn’s transgressive transits in the conditions of Kaal Sarpadosh, Markesh and Baadhkesh planets in the devotional birth magazine to their mind is very fruitful.
Apart from this, thismantra has the ability to clear many doshas like Vishghati, Vishkanya, Gandmool and Naadi Dosh etc. and gives strength. Shiva Tattva is meditated upon as Mahamrityunjaya.

Ganga Aarti

The Ganga Aarti is performed on multiple ghats in Varanasi. Varanasi has 84 ghats. Some ghats are used for bathing and puja ceremonies, while others are used for cremations. The aarti is performed every evening on at least 10 to 15 ghats. Some of the important ghats where Ganga Aarti are performed are: Dashashwamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat, Kedar ghat, Tulsi ghat, Chet Singh ghat, Bhonsle Ghat, Scindia Ghat, Darbhanga Ghat, Ahilyabai Ghat.

Among these The Dashashwamedh Ghat and Assi Ghat are popular for their Ganga Aarti.
