About

Kabini Wildlife Safari – Sanctuary, It is spread over 55 acres and is an essential part of the Nagarhole National Park, including dense forests, lakes, steep valleys, and streams. A number of herbivores, especially elephants or Asian elephants dwell in their naturalhabitat at Kabini Forest Reserve. It is also famed for housing a number of species of birds as well.

From rare species of flora to endangered species of fauna, it is home to a vast wildlife population. Nestled on thebanks of Kabini River, the wildlife sanctuary fosters wildlife and offers various exciting opportunities to spot Leopard, Sambar deers, Spotted deers, Cheetahs, Panthers, and 250 plus species of birds.

The rippling waters of the Kabini River, cascading waterfalls and the greenery all around make the Forests extremely enchanting.

During the visit through the dense woodlands, in a safari or a boat cruise, might get a glimpse of animals likeleopards, gaurs, antelopes, crocodiles, tigers, cobras, and pythons and also a playful herd of elephants or leopards,prowling behind the thickly forested terrains of Kabini. Besides animals, will also get to see a rich variety of plant life.

Kabini is a wildlife destination that is the largest place for Asiatic Elephants in the world. The Kabini Forest Reserve(which comprises the south-eastern part of Nagarhole National Park) is famous for its amazing wildlife and birdlife.

Kabini is also home to the world’s most famous living black panther “Saya”. Even though it is not impossible to spothim, it is very rare.Kabini Backwaters Forest Safari is a popular experience conducted by the Karnataka Forest Department in the Kabiniriver. The Karnataka Forest department operates two types of safaris in Kabini- one is the jeep safari and the other isthe boat safari in Kabini River. The boat safari lasts for close to 90 minutes and guests may see elephants mud bathing on the shores, several birds such as cormorants, cranes, darters along the river banks, crocodiles as well as snakes.

A. Government Forest Safari

Government Forest Safari in Nagarahole National Park by 18 seaters Van is organized by the Karnataka Forest Department, Dammanakatte which is 4km from the Resort & there is no pre-booking or online booking. Tickets can be booked 1 hour before Safari starts & has to be booked in person with a Valid ID Card (mandatory) & each person gets only 1 ticket.

B. JLR Safari

JLR Safari is organised by Jungle Lodges & Resorts (KSTDC Resort) which is 15km from our Resort. It has limited seats & has to be pre-booked.

Price per Child (aged 5 to 12 years) – ₹2,200

1. Jeeps / Minivan based on the availability is provided & is on sharing basis.
2. No Charges for children below 5 years of age.
3. Please bring a Valid Government ID Card or Passport (for foreign nationals) during Safa-ri.
4. Guests have to assemble at Gol Ghar at Kabini River Lodge 15 minutes before the Safari starts.

Coracle Ride in Kabini Backwaters for 45 minutes costs ₹600 per Coracle for 2 Pax & ₹800 per Coracle for 3 Pax.
Walk along the Kabini Backwaters early morning or in the evening & spot some exotic birds.
Visit to Bheemanakoli Mahadeshwara Temple by Coracle (Rs. 1,000 for 2 Pax, takes 1 hour each way) or by Road (35km, takes 1 hour to reach due to bad road conditions).
