About

Sri Kabbalamma temple deity is Goddess Shakti and the form of Goddess Kabbalamma. It is the only shrine for nearly 28 villages in the surrounding region.

Once Goddess Kabbalamma was in search of a place to reside and reached the village Kabbalu. Goddess Kabbalamma took the permission of Basaveshwara and resided in the village. Hence, the offering is given to Basaveshwara, the bull living in the temple premises, and then to Goddess Kabbalamma.

The temple is built in the Dravidian style of architecture. The temple is built on granite stones. There is a beautiful arch near the temple road. A high mandap is built with an obelisk tower on its top in front of this temple. There is a Gopura with five stories at the entrance. The main deity is a stone sculpture and has a separate covered mandapa. There is a Nandhi (Bull) statue in the temple in a seated position.

Sri Kabbalamma is mainly worshiped to get rid of the bad eyes of other peoples, who are jealous over a person’s development and so. Praying this goddess and provide an offering to this temple will clear all those bad eye’s effects on its devotees is what is believed here. But seeing its daily visitors, it seems these beliefs are working. Many do practice a temple custom followed here that is a devotee is allowed to sleep on the temple floors and the temple Bull walks over by without harming the devotee laid on the floor. It is a voluntary call by its devotees and not a must when any offerings are given to this temple.
