This temple belongs to Dwapara Yuga and during that period once Sri Krishna danced along with Radha. Anklet bells from his legs were fallen on the earth. To find that bell, Lord Sri Krishna ordered Narada maharshi to find it and bring it back. That bell borned as moudgalya maharishi. Then Narada maharshi explained about the birth of moudgalya maharishi.
Then moudgalya maharishi created an Idol of Sri Venugopala Swamy with sand and prayed for Sri Krishna and performed a penance here. The Lord gave darshan to him from that time. This region got the name as movva, later it was named as movva.
There are separate shrines for Sri Venugopala Swamy and Godadevi in this temple. A great scholar and poet named Kshetrayya belongs to movva village wrote many sloka’s and Keerthana on Sri venugopala Swamy and prayed Lord in this temple centuries back.
