Krishna District

Krishna is one of the nine districts in the coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh, with Machilipatnam as its administrative headquarters. The district covers about 3,773 sq km with a coastline of about 88 km. It was formerly known as Machilipatnam District and was renamed after the Krishna River; it was reorganised in 1925, when it was split into Krishna and West Godavari districts, and again in 2022, when it was further divided into Krishna and NTR districts.
