Chamarajanagar District
Chamarajanagar (also spelled Chamarajanagara) is the southernmost district in the state of Karnataka, India, carved out of the original larger Mysore District in 1998. Chamarajanagar town is the headquarters of the district, which covers about 5,100 sq km and had a population of 10,20,791. The district was earlier known as Arikottara and takes its present name from Chamaraja Wodeyar, a ruler of Mysore who was born there.
