About
Local inscriptions indicate that the Chalukyas built a beautiful temple to Ganesha in the year 840 AD, knowing the glories of Ganesha. According to a local legend, the temple was initially sunk into the ground.
One day Swami came directly to a devotee’s dream and described his whereabouts. The devotee then informed the devotees about this through his friends. It is said that all the villagers together recovered the idol.
The temple, which came out of the ground, where God is growing in size day by day. We can still observe this increase. Also in this temple, the trunk of the idol of Vinayaka is to the right.
This is a very rare thing. Especially the devotees who come to this temple say their korkas to the Swami in their ear. He wears knots on it. By doing so the devotees believe that their desires which have not been fulfilled for a long time have been fulfilled. Many examples of this are shown.
Similarly, devotees believe that all sins will be wiped out if they visit Nandi and Bhulingeshwara Swami here. There are several temples built by the Eastern Chalukyas in this Bikavolu village.
The village is said to have got its name from the Chalukya king Vijayaditya III who ruled the region between 849 and 892 AD. Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple and Sri Chandrasekhara Swamy Temple are some of the important temples built during his time.
The temple also has temples dedicated to deities like Veerabhadra Swamy and Subrahmanyaswamy.
