Protocol Guidelines and New Rules in Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Usually devotees carry recommendation letters from prominent individuals directly to temples. However, at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, there are certain rules for protocol darshan (visitation). Despite carrying the recommendation letter directly, devotees must send a letter with their details in advance via email or to the official WhatsApp number. The email must be sent from the official email of the person or organization providing the recommendation letter.

After arriving in Varanasi, devotees need to visit the protocol office near the Vishwanath Temple and inform them under which name the email was sent. The temple staff will immediately check and confirm that the letter is in the correct format, and then examine the devotees ID cards. If the names match those in the recommendation letter, they will be permitted for darshan.

On days when the President, Prime Minister, or other prominent individuals are visiting, restrictions are placed on protocol darshan. On such days, permission must be obtained from the Assistant District Magistrate of Varanasi. The recommendation letter should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
