Kusumanchi Sri Ganapeshwaralayam Shivalayam

About Kusumanchi Sri Ganapeshwaralayam Shivalayam

Kusumanchi Sri Ganapeshwaralayam Shivalayam was built by Lord Ganapati during the Kakatiya period in the 11th-12th century AD during the construction of thousands of Shiva temples. The Shiva temple in Kusumanchi is a witness to the piety and artistic excellence of the Kakatiyas. Yeshivalayam is also known as Ganapeshwara Temple and Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple. The Shiva Lingam in this temple is known as one of the largest Shiva Lingams in South India. This temple was built north of Kusumanchi in the Khammam district. It is being spread that the construction of the temple was done by a sculptor without arms and legs. The honor of stacking this temple with big stones went to that sculptor.

Shiva Lingam in Shiva Temple: It is remarkable that the temple is built on top of the stones piled up like a star shape when viewed from above and a Shiva linga shape on the other side. The Shivalingam in the temple is 6 feet high. With a radius of 5.3 cm, it resembles a smooth granite stone. Another feature is that the temple is built so that the rays of the sunshine are on the Shiva Lingam every day at sunrise.

For hundreds of years, it has been digested with hummocks and mounds. Even though there is a great time in the village, no one cares about it, so the villagers do not even know how it is. Sathu Weerapratap Reddy, who was the then CI of Kusumanchi, came to the attention of the temple matter, and with the help of the villagers, the temple was brought to light.

They improved it and started worshiping it. This temple gradually came to light due to the initiative of devotees. After that, it emerges as a great temple. Elders describe visiting this temple as a means of rebirth. Devotees believe that if they visit Kusumanchi Shiva Temple, their wishes will be fulfilled. That is why this Shivalayam is blooming like gold for the devotees. It is developing day by day.

Devotees from Khammam district as well as neighboring Nalgonda and Warangal come here every Shivaratri. Thousands of devotees visit this Shiva temple every week.
