About

This Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple is dedicated to Sri Hanuman, the monkey deity, who helped Sri Rama during his quest to find and rescue his wife Seetha from the demon Ravana. The Hanuman deity is 6 feet tall at this temple. Hanuman or Anjaneya has many temples in Karnataka and this temple is like a flagship temple.

It has at least 800 years in history. It was renovated in the Dravidian temple style in the year 2000 with monetary contributions from the people of Shamanur and devotees elsewhere.
