Kalaburagi District

Kalaburagi (also known as Gulbarga) district is one of the districts of Karnataka state in southern India, with Kalaburagi city as its administrative headquarters and the seat of Kalaburagi division. The district covers about 10,954 sq km and had a population of around 25.66 lakh across 71,601 households. Its name comes from “Kalburgi”, meaning stony land in the local language, and the region’s recorded history goes back to the 6th century A.D., passing through the Rashtrakuta and Chalukya dynasties.
