Kadapa is one of the thirteen districts in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, and one of the four districts in the Rayalaseema region of the state. Kadapa is the headquarters for the district. According to the district’s official website, the town’s name evolved after a Sufi saint, Khwaja Peerullah Hussaini, arrived in the region in the 16th century; following his instructions, the Nawab named the town Nek Naam Abaad, which over time became Kadapa.
