About Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu Festival of the deity Lord Shiva. The festival is also known as the “Great Night of Lord Shiva”. According to the mythology, this is the night when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married and the festival is usually observed on the 14th day of the first half of the lunar month of Phalguna.
Maha Shivaratri 2027 falls on Saturday, 6 March 2027 (Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi), according to panchang calendars. Temples announce their exact puja and darshan timings closer to the date, so check the temple’s official website before you travel. In 2025 the festival was observed on 26 February.
Shivaratri vrat
On Maha Shivaratri Devotees do fasting, offer prayers, meditation and chant’s Lord Name as it is believed that the lord fulfill the wishes and absolve the sins. It is also believed that fasting purifies the body, mind and soul. The vrat continues throughout the day and night.

Arunachalam Temple which is also known as Arulmigu Annamalaiyar Temple. The temple is a fine example of South Indian (Dravidian) architecture and sculpture. 5. Murudeshwara Temple- Bhatkala Taluk, North Canara district in Coastal Karnataka
The temple is located on a hillock which offers a magnificent view of the sea. The temple complex is famous for its tall Shiva statue which is around 37 m high and is the tallest Shiva statue in India. The temple gopura at 237 ft is the 2nd tallest in India.
