Bellary, officially known as Ballari, is a major district located in the north-eastern part of Karnataka. According to the district’s official website, Ballari covers an area of 4,252 sq km with a population of 14,00,970, administered across 5 talukas and 100 gram panchayats. The district is nicknamed “The Iron City”, a reference to iron ore mining in the region.
