About Jayashankar Bhupalpally

Jayashankar Bhupalpally is linked with the dynasties of the Great Vishnukundins and even earlier with the Buddhist and pre-Buddhist periods of Indian history. It is surrounded by Peddapalli, Mancherial, Mulugu, Warangal, Karimnagar and Hanumakonda districts and the states of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The district covers about 2,293 sq km and had a population of 416,763. It was carved out of the erstwhile Warangal district, with the annexation of some parts of Karimnagar, on October 11, 2016, and is named after Prof. K. Jayashankar, a Telangana ideologue.
