Kamareddy District
Kamareddy District is one of the districts of Telangana. The district derives its name from Chinna Kamireddy, ruler of Domakonda Fort, who governed the area between AD 1600 and 1640. The old name of this place was Koduru, the village that existed where Kishtamma Gudi now stands; in Harijanwada there was a temple called Koduru Hanmandla Gudi, said to be the oldest temple in Kamareddy’s history. Elsewhere in the district, Lingampet village is named after Raja Venkata Narasimha Reddy and Queen Lingayamma, and Durki village was formerly known as Durvasa Maharshi.
